ResourcesTraining Evaluation
This 2.5-hour, three-module webinar is for individuals working in training units or assisting in curriculum development. The modules build off each other and include developing a personalized training evaluation and analyzing data to show a return on investment for training.
Observations showed very little training evaluation, which was beyond the level-one evaluation. In fact, there was little understanding of effective evaluation and how to use the information beyond how the facilitator was received.
The three modules are as follows:
- Module 1: WHAT is an outcomes-based evaluation, and WHY is it important
- Module 2: HOW to design your own outcomes-based training evaluation an WHEN to implement
- Module 3: Introductory data collection and analysis of outcomes-based evaluation
The training also comes with six resource handouts:
- Asking the Right Questions
- Grading Rubrics for Observational Performance
- Resource Guide
- Analytical Tools
- Outcomes-Based Training Evaluation Steps
- Pre-Test and Post-Test Design

Handouts
Asking the Right Questions: This handout reviews the differences between research questions, survey questions, and interview questions relevant to the webinar series on outcomes-based training evaluation.
Grading Rubrics for Observational Performance: Although scoring rubrics were not part of the original curriculum, this handout provides instructions to create rubrics for observational settings when other assessment tools like pre- and post-tests, surveys, interviews, and other data collection methods may not be appropriate or easily administrated
Resource Guide: This handout provides free, publicly available resources related to the topics discussed in the Outcomes-Based Training Evaluation webinar series.
Analytical Tools: This handout provides analytical tools for practitioners to develop their outcomes-based training evaluation.
Outcomes-Based Training Evaluation Steps: This resource provides a description of the steps involved in outcomes-based training evaluation, focusing specifically on those presented in the Outcomes-based Training Evaluation webinar series. Examples provided are Michigan Department of Corrections (DOC) Asbestos Awareness for Staff with Maintenance, Housekeeping, and Janitorial Duties training.
Pre-Test and Post-Test Design: This resource provides information on pre- and post-testing related to the topics discussed in the Outcomes-based Training Evaluation webinar series. This handout also includes examples and pre- and post-test assessments using the Bureau of Justice Administration’s (BJA) First-line Supervisor training developed by The Moss Group.
